The symptoms of a weak proposition
Long sales cycles with lots of education. Deals lost to 'no decision' rather than to a competitor. Discounting as a reflex. Marketing generating volume that sales does not recognise as qualified. Every one of those is a proposition problem wearing a sales costume.
The root cause is usually breadth. Growing businesses accumulate capability, and the proposition grows to describe all of it. The result is accurate, comprehensive and impossible to choose.
